Maison Ponthier specifically chose a Granny Smith apple grown at an altitude of 400m at the foot of Mont d'Or. Indeed, the terroir of the deep and fertile lower Alpine soils offers ideal alluvial and colluvial qualities for fruit arboriculture. While not sensitive to mild cold, apple trees need a winter period but fear spring frosts. The highly sunny climate of southeastern France gives the Granny Smith apple its tangy, juicy, and fragrant character. The Granny Smith from Haute Provence is recognized by its very tonic character: firm, crisp, and acidic flesh; thick, smooth, and shiny skin, without dark spots, and a bright green color. PONTHIER puree perfectly reproduces the fruit's texture, its sweet and sour flavor with citrus notes, and its vegetal aromas.
