Native to Asia and North America, currants have been cultivated in France since the Middle Ages, primarily in Lorraine, where the Dukes of Bar would painstakingly de-seed each berry before cooking them to make a jelly they dubbed "Lorraine Caviar."
This purée is made from a strict selection and blend of several fruit varieties harvested at full ripeness by growers. It is free from preservatives*, artificial colours*, and artificial flavourings.
The production process guarantees consistent sugar and acidity levels, while preserving an organoleptic richness as close as possible to that of fresh fruit.
