Wasabi Paste - 43G

Wasabi means "mountain hollyhock" and is a species native to Asia, belonging, like horseradish, to the plantsof the Brassicaceae family. Tube wasabi paste is perennial, and while the effect is very similar to mustard, the taste and aroma are quite different. Wasabi rootis rich in isothiocyanates and sinigrin. During preparation, crushing creates an enzymatic reaction that gives it its typical pungent flavor. Like mustard, this condiment is primarily used to enhance Japanese cuisinedishes, such as sushi, sashimi, and maki. Generally, it complements fish or meat dishes but can also be found in more elaborate recipes. Here are a few examples: crispy shrimp and scallops with sesame and poppy seeds, wasabi mayonnaise, and cocktail sauce; Wasabi whipped cream verrine, smoked salmon, and Monin Pink Grapefruit pearls; Pea velouté with Wasabi and Strawberries with balsamic vinegar and wasabi ice cream.
