They originate from Campania and belong to the family of short, straight-cut pasta.

In the past, Fusilli were handmade using a process passed down from mother to daughter. This involved twisting spaghetti around a knitting needle with the quick gesture of expert hands. The skill of this method is very similar to that of spinning machines, hence the word "fusillo" which derives from "fuso", a wooden instrument used for hand spinning.

They are particularly tasty with meat, fish or ricotta sauce. They are perfect with vegetable sauces or prepared with a tomato sauce enriched with peppers, aubergines, courgettes, olives and capers.
