Cornilles have a matte appearance and a shape similar to black-eyed peas. Coming partly from Madagascar and Peru, their color is ivory with a black eye. The product's smell is natural, with no foreign elements that could alter the flavor of your preparations. Its taste is specific to cornilles, these medium-sized beans with a slightly sweet flavor. Considered a good luck charm, cornille is often cooked for festivities, thus bringing good luck to everyone around your table. This product is found in cakes (Le Koki), stews, couscous, and many Cameroonian recipes. To prepare them, soak the cornilles for 12 hours in cold water. After this night of rehydration, allow 10 minutes for cooking (or 40 minutes if the product is dry). Remember to add herbs to the cooking water and salt at the end.
